Friday, 26 October 2007

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Thursday arrested two persons, including a nephew of businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, and recovered nearly five kilogrammes of Yaba tablets and other drugs from their possession, reports bdnews24.com.
RAB's legal and media wing director Commander AK Azad said the elite force also recovered a Yaba tablet-producing machine and a good number of 'ice pills', a drug which RAB sources said was more powerful than Yaba, during the raid in the early hours of Thursday.
During the raid on two houses at Gulshan, the RAB men also seized Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment worth Tk 50 million (5.0 crore), foreign currency worth more than Tk 5.0 million and a huge quantity of foreign liquor.
One of the arrested persons was Aminul Huda, a senior official of MB Multicare Technology and nephew of Aziz Mohammad Bhai, said Azad.
The elite force began the raids late Wednesday night on house numbers 41 and 116 on Road No 123 at Gulshan-1.
He said the raids ended early Thursday morning.
The second arrested person could not be immediately identified.
According to another report, a RAB official said Wednesday members of the RAB arrested four people, including two women, for their alleged involvement with Yaba trade in Dhaka.
The arrests were made early Wednesday in separate raids when the crime busters recovered 425 yaba tablets and Tk 4,000 from the detainees' possession, said Rab-1 Major Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury.
On a tip-off, the officials posed as yaba buyers from one of the detainees, Anisur Rahman, in the city's Uttar Badda area.
