Five more die of measles, symptoms in 24 hrs

At least five more people died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the 24 hours until Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the five deaths, one was confirmed as caused by measles, while the remaining four patients died with symptoms consistent with the disease, officials said.
The information was disclosed on Monday afternoon by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the DGHS.
According to official data, a total of 44 people have died from confirmed measles infections since March 15, while 220 others have died with suspected measles symptoms during the same period.
The number of confirmed measles cases has reached 4,693 since March 15, while suspected infections have surged to 33,386.
During this period, 22,442 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals across the country, of whom 19,018 have already been discharged.
