Five of top-10 firms add over Rs 236b in m-cap, ONGC winner

MUMBAI, June 27 (PTI): In a volatile trade past week, where the Sensex maintained the 17,500-level, five out of top-10 most coveted firms added a sum of Rs 236 billion to their market capitalisation with ONGC emerging as the top gainer.
The country's second largest valued firm ONGC added a sum of Rs 150.79 billion to its market-capitalisation (m-cap) taking its valuation to Rs 2703.53 billion for the week ended June 25.
The 30-share BSE index Sensex finished the week up 3.71 points or 0.02 per cent to settle at Rs 17,574.53.
Interestingly, all the top-10 companies maintained their respective position unlike the previous week.
Corporate behemoth Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) maintained its numero-uno status and added Rs 26.17 billion to its m-cap, taking its total market valuation to Rs 3477.52 billion.
Power producer NTPC at third spot lost Rs 35.46 billion from its m-cap, while trading firm MMTC at fourth place saw its valuation swell by Rs 11.34 billion.
At the end of the week, NTPC's valuation stood at Rs 1617.35 billion and MMTC's m-cap surged to Rs 1613.81 billion.
Two IT firms -- Infosys Technologies and TCS -- together lost a sum of Rs 41.52 billion from their m-cap.
Infosys stood at the fifth position with a total m-cap of Rs 1593.93 billion, while software exporter TCS saw its valuation decline to Rs 1490.51 billion.
State-owned SBI lost Rs 45.65 billion from its m-cap taking its valuation to Rs 1460.73 billion.
Power producer BHEL at eight rank added Rs 16.99 billion to see its valuation swell to Rs 1199.77 billion, followed by FMCG major ITC which stood at ninth place and gained Rs
30.47 billion taking its market valuation to Rs 1153.67 billion.
Engineering major L&T finished last and lost Rs 22.35 billion to see its valuation fell to Rs 1062.30 billion.
