Five \\\'robbers\\\' injured in gunfight with police

BENAPOLE, June 19 (UNB): Five alleged robbers were injured in a gunfight with police in Khajura area on Jessore - Magura highway in the early hours of Friday.
A patrol team of police, led by Masudur Rahman, sub-inspector (SI) of Khajura police camp, conducted a drive in the area around 3:00 am and challenged a robber gang, said Ariful Haque, additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Jessore thana.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the gang members opened fire on the lawenforcers, prompting them to fire back, triggering a gunfight, leaving five injured with bullets.
Four police personnel were also injured during the gunfight.
The arrested robbers were undergoing treatment at Jessore Medical College Hospital under police custody, said Dr Abdur Rashid, medical officer of Jessore Medical College Hospital.
Police recovered three firearms, five jackets of DB police and some sharp weapons from the spot.
