Five smugglers arrested along with gold, cash

SHATKHIRA, Nov 18 (UNB): The BDR Jawans in a drive in Langalpara area of Kolaroa Upazila arrested five members of a smuggling syndicate and recovered gold, cash and other valuables worth over Tk 1.2 million (Tk 12 lakh) Friday.
Sources said acting on a secret information a team of BDR-41 battalion led by Havildar Abdul Alim raided the area at about 4pm and arrested them along with 488 grams of gold worth Tk 0.886 million, Tk 0.31 million in cash, three mobile phone sets and one camera.
The arrested persons were identified as Ali Akbar (24), son of Moslem Ali, Hasina Begum, (45), wife of Aktar Ali Howladar, Alamgir Sheikh, son of Kalam Sheikh, Rahim Mollah, (20), son of Abdus Sattar and Suman Howladar, (22), son of Aftab Ali of Bagerhat district.
