Five suspended for power plant boiler explosion in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Mar 29: Executive Engineer and four others of Raozan 210 megawatt (MW) Thermal Power Plant unit 2 in Chittagong have been suspended for negligence of duty. The PDB authority has taken the action following explosion of a boiler at the plant that forced the authorities to shut down power generation at the giant project on Saturday. Those suspended temporarily are executive engineer Manik Lal Das, sub-assistant engineers Mizanur Rahman, Abdul Khalek, Anup Das and plant operator Danu Meah. Chief Engineer ANM Asadullah said four engineers and an operator have been primarily held responsible after a preliminary investigation. Another engineer said 'technical faults' have also been detected.
