Five traffickers held, 8 victims rescued in city

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Wednesday arrested five people including a government doctor from a house at Mohammadpur Bijli Mohalla for their suspected attempt to traffic children and rescued eight victims from their possession.
A team of RAB-2 led by Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) Mohammad Wahid Miah, acting on a secret information, raided a non-government organization (NGO) office at house number 2220, Bijli Mohalla, block-F in Mohammadpur Tuesday night and arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in trafficking of women and children.
The arrested persons are-Dr Kazi Ahmed Zakir, Milon Sarkar, Tahera Begum, Jalal Uddin and Sufia Khatun. Arrested Kazi Ahmed Zakir is a government physician and had been working for the NGO as a part timer.
The rescued boys and girls were identified as Mizan (8), Shaon1(10), Rabiul (10), Raju (11), Alam (12), Kamal (12), Saju (12) and Lovely (12).
