Five-year trade licence registration, renewal policy unveiled

The Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) held a formal ceremony on Monday at its Motijheel office to unveil the new 5-year trade licence registration and renewal policy.
Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh officially announced the five-year registration and renewal period as the chief guest for trade licences in Dhaka South City Corporation to be in effect, reports BSS.
Taposh also lauded MCCI's advocacy for the five-year licence scheme and its successful presentation to the DSCC, said a press release.
He urged all to disseminate this information and avail themselves of the new facility.
Mayor Taposh also outlined Bangladesh's future development goals, stressing the critical role of both soft and hard infrastructures.
Taposh shared plans to relocate chemical factories of old Dhaka, designate specific industrial zones, and oversee proper urban development as his vision aims to make old Dhaka and other areas under DSCC jurisdiction attractive destinations for both tourists and businesses.
MCCI President Md. Saiful Islam extended thanks to DSCC Mayor for fulfilling his commitment that he had made in August 2022 to consider MCCI's request for the extended licence period.
He listed Bangladesh's impressive development citing examples of new infrastructure projects like the metro rail and elevated expressway.
Saiful also noted the country's resilience in navigating global challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
He expressed gratitude towards the Mayor and the government for fostering a stable political, social, and economic environment, thereby improving the 'Ease of Doing Business' in Bangladesh.
An interactive session was also held where attendees discussed topics such as organising trade licence fairs targeted at women, regional, and zonal entrepreneurs, fortifying DSCC's online certification platform against cyber threats, and the ongoing maintenance and monitoring of newly-built infrastructure.
The event saw participation from various sectors, including representatives of the business community and DSCC.
