Fixing NID-error sans hassle

National Identity Card (NID) is a mandatory document for the citizens of Bangladesh. Its primary purpose was to create accurate voter lists. The use of national identity card is now compulsory for all important tasks including employment, land registration, passports, openingof bank accounts, buying mobile SIM cards, electricity, water and gas connections and for other services. Everyone expects her/his NID to be error-free. But in reality, allegations have been surfacing for a long time citing millions of mistakes in NIDs across the country. People have been facing all sorts of trouble or being deprived of state and institutional services. People also allege facing hassles when they go to the offices of Bangladesh Election Commission for correcting the errors in their NIDs.
We urge the authorities concerned to formulate a strategy so that people can correct the errors in their NIDs without any hassles, troubles and red-tapism.
