Flights to Middle East destinations suspended

Sunday, 1 March 2026

FE REPORT
Flights from Bangladesh to Middle Eastern destinations including Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai, and Qatar have been temporarily suspended in the wake of Iran-Israel and US conflict.
"Due to the security issue, several scheduled  commercial flights on the affected routes have been cancelled, delayed, or rescheduled," Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) said in a statement on Saturday.
In this context, and in accordance with decisions taken by the civil aviation authorities of the concerned countries, the airspaces of several nations have been temporarily declared closed.
In this regard, the authorities of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) have issued directives to all concerned airlines.
Passengers must be informed in advance about flight cancellations or delays through SMS, email, and call centres.
Relevant airline staff must remain present at the airport to provide necessary information and guidance to passengers.
Clear and coordinated information regarding rescheduled flights must be ensured in order to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
Passengers who are planning to travel on the affected routes have been requested to urgently contact their respective airline offices or travel agencies to verify the current flight status and take necessary measures.
The CAAB also said the situation was being closely monitored.
"Until further notice, the coordinated cooperation of all concerned is sought to ensure passenger safety and operational normalcy," the CAAB said. It also sought cooperation of passengers.
In a separate statement Biman Bangladesh Airlines also said its flights to destinations including Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Riyadh, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, and other Middle East routes would remain suspended until further notice.
"Passengers scheduled to travel to these destinations are requested not to proceed to the airport without contacting Biman Bangladesh Airlines directly," it said.
Seeking sincere apology for the inconvenience caused, it assured passengers that their safety remained the highest priority.
