Flood death toll rises to 769

The steadily growing death toll from flood-related incidents like drowning and snakebites rose to 769 with 15 fresh deaths were reported in 24 hours until 8:00 am Friday. Health Directorate sources said of the total deaths, 676 were from drowning, 20 from diarrhoea, 17 from respiratory tract infection (RTI) and 56 from snakebite. Of the 15 fresh deaths, 10 were from drowning, one from RTI and four from snakebite. Some 3,236 people were affected by diarrhoea across the country during the 24-hour period. Of them, 596 people with severe diarrhoea were admitted into the ICDDR'B hospital. — UNB
