Flood hits 19 dists
All rivers to swell further: FFWC

Flood condition in the country's different districts deteriorated further on Tuesday following spells of downpour and onrush of water from the neighbouring country.
The flood has so far hit a total of nineteen districts, and is likely to affect four more districts in the next twenty-four hours, said the state-run Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) in its evening update on Tuesday.
Water-level rose further at 63 points of 61 rivers on the day. Thirteen rivers in 23 points across the country were flowing 21 cm to 106 cm over the danger level.
Teesta river was flowing below the danger mark on Monday. But, its water flow increased, and touched the danger level at 3:00 pm on Tuesday.
The FFWC said Padma river at Goalanda point in Rajbari and Atrai river at Baghabari point in Sirajganj were likely to cross the danger level by Tuesday night.
It also said flood condition in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogura, Sirajganj, Jamalpur and Tangail districts may deteriorate further in the next 24 hours. Water level of all rivers, except Surma and Kushiara, will increase in the next 48 hours, it added.
The Met Office, in its forecast, said moderate to heavy rain might continue at many places over Rangpur division and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the next 48 hours.
Floodwater has inundated many places of Kurigram, Bogura, Rangpur, Nilpahamri, Lalamonirhat, Gaibandha, Sirajganj, Jamalpur, Kushtia, Mymensingh, Tangail, Rajbari, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Chattogram, Bandarban and Cox's Bazar districts.
Few places of Naogaon, Manikganj, Munshiganj and Shariatpur are likely to be flooded, if heavy rain and onrush of water continue in the next 24 hours, according to the FFWC.
However, flood situation in Lalmonirhat, Netrakona, Sunamganj, Sylhet and Moulvibazar might improve in a day, it added.
Meanwhile, five people, including four children, drowned to death, while three others were injured after a boat carrying them, capsized amid heavy water flow at Hatia union of Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district on Tuesday.
The deceased were Rupamoni (08), Hasibur (07), Sumon (08), Ruku (16) and Runa Begum (32).
The incident took place when 25-30 people were going by boat to visit their inundated relatives at Notun Anantapur Village of Hatia union, said a deputy assistant director of the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Kurigram.
