Flood situation forecast to improve

The late monsoon appears to be on the decline with no rain forecast for the next two days leading to improvement of the flood situation in the next 72 hours, the Flood Forecast and Warning Centre said Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.
FFWC assistant engineer Md Arifur Rahman told the news agency: "River waters throughout the country swelled at 34 points, receded at 24, remained unchanged at two and above danger levels at 23 points."
The FFWC said river waters swelled at all points in the Brahmaputra and Ganges basins. In the Meghna basin, the waters increased at some points and receded in other areas. Waters also receded in the southeast hill basins.
After an initial increase, water in the Ganges and the Brahmaputra rivers will start to recede in the next 72 hours.
