Flood situation improves in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Sept 3 (BSS): The situation in the vast low laying areas of three upazillas of the district on the bank of river Padma and Arial Khan has improved more with the further recession of water by 13 centimeters during last twenty four hours.
The present water level is 8.53 which is 13 cms below the danger level.
It may be mentioned here that due to onrush of flood water from upstream, a vast low laying areas of Sadar, Char Bhadrasan and Sadarpur upazillas forced hundreds of people became marooned during last two weeks.
According to District Relief and Rehabilitation office (DRRO) sources, immediate after the inundation, the district administration officials including Deputy Commissioner, ADCs, UNOs and Upazila chairmen have started distribution of rice and cash money among the affected families.
DRRO office sources told BSS today that the administration so far distributed 73 tonnes of rice and Taka one lakh thirty thousand of cash money among the affected families.
Besides, six medical teams have been engaged to look after the health condition of the marooned people and also to ensure safe drinking water.
