Flood victims get rice, cash in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Sept 28 (BSS): A total of 300 flood affected families of Ballamjhar union of Sadar upazila in the district got 5 tonnes of rice and cash Taka 25,000 from the government on Saturday to mitigate their sufferings.
Whip of the Bangladesh Parliament Mahbub Ara Begum Gini, MP, distributed the rice and cash to the flood victims as the chief guest in a function at the union parishad premises.
Of the total some 250 flood hit families were given rice and the rest 50 provided with money. Each of the 250 beneficiaries received 20-kg of rice and the 50 beneficiaries each Taka 500 from the guest.
Speaking on the occasion, whip and local lawmaker Mahbub Ara Begum Gini said the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took post flood rehabilitation programmes side by side with distributing relief to minimize the woes of the flood victims instantly.
Deputy Commissioner M. Ehsan-e-Elahi, UNO Ashraful Momin Khan, Project implementation officer Mofakkharul Islam, UP chairman Emarul Islam Sabin, political leaders as well as media men were present on the occasion.
