Flourish child leadership to build better society: Speakers

Speakers at a Child Forum Gathering have stressed flourishing child leadership to turn children into ideal citizens through creating democratic values and tolerance in them to opinions of others in building a better society. They were addressing the daylong Child Forum Gathering – 2014, organised by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) under its Fulbari Annual Development Programme (ADP) at Kalihat Faith Bible Church in Fulbari Upazila of Dinajpur district. Ninety elected child leaders of four union level child forums, including Betdighee Tarun Shishu Forum, Kazihal Jagaron Shishu Forum, Eluari Panjeri Shishu Forum and Aladipur Shishu Forum, participated. Leaders of these child forums presented their respective annual report and narrated work plan for the next one year from October 2014 to September 2015 at the meeting. The forums stopped 14 child marriages, arranged meetings on bad impacts of child marriage with marriage registrars, Purohits, Imams, Pastures, public representatives and common people and made five dropped out students school-going in four unions of Fulbari upazila during the period from October 2013 to August 2014. Rangpur Divisional Director of WVB Dr Gregory Glorious Das attended the programme as the chief guest with Fulbari ADP Manager of the NGO Pabitra B Costa in the chair. Manager of Birampur ADP of WVB Litan Mandal, Programme Officer of its Fulbari ADP Lal Thoyai Bom, Pallabi Murmu and Badal Sangma and Team Leader of its Sponsorship Project David Hasda attended as the special guests, according to BSS.
