FM to attend 4th CICA summit

The 4th summit of the ‘Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia’ (CICA) will be held in Shanghai, China on May 20-21. Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will attend the summit, said a Foreign Ministry media release on Wednesday. Turkish Ambassador in Dhaka Huseyin Muftuoglu who met State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam on Wednesday, handed over a note verbale which conveyed that Turkey as the current Chair of CICA has put Bangladesh’s application for full membership in CICA under silence procedure which will end on May 19. On May 11, through a note verbale issued by the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry, requested Turkey to support Bangladesh in achieving full membership in the upcoming 4th summit, according to a news agency.
