Fog disrupts flight operations at Shah Amanat

Saturday, 27 December 2014

Operations of several international and domestic flights, which were scheduled to land or take off, faced an unusual delay at Hazrat Shah Amanat (R) International Airport on Saturday for foggy weather. Airport Manager Wing Commandar Nur-e-Alam told this corespondent that a blanked of thick fog had covered the airport in Patenga area from Friday midnight to Saturday morning, blocking vision. He said the dense fog-caused poor visibility disrupted two flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Air Arabia from Dubai and Sarjah which were scheduled to land in the airport around 8:30am and 9:00am respectively. The flights landed at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport on Saturday morning. Besides, landing of several domestic flights was rescheduled in the wake of poor visibility caused by dense fog. However, the operations of flights in the port city’s Hazrat Shah Amanat (R) International Airport came back to normal after 10:00am as fog cleared, according to a news agency.
