Thick fog and cold spell partially paralysed the life in Chittagong and its adjacent areas with massive disruption of air, water and road communications causing untold sufferings to thousands of people. Jaker Hossain, Secretary of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) said due to dense fog plying of all kinds of ships in port channel remained suspended from Tuesday night to 12noon on Wednesday. The port authority was abruptly prompted to impose a ban on movements of as many as eight vessels to and from Chittagong owning to poor visibility. Nur-e-Alam, Manager of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport (CSAIA), said dense fog disrupted flight operations at the Airport on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Officials of CSAIA said that operations of domestic and international flights remained suspended till 12noon. Many of the domestic flights have either been rescheduled or delayed owing to dense fog, airport sources said. However, operation of flight and vessel movements returned to normalcy at around 12noon today when the fog started to lessen, according to a news agency.
