Food safety must not be ignored

Sunday, 21 September 2014

Food adulteration has become so rampant in the country that when the common people go out they think twice before eating anything. Even fruits are not safe as most of them are loaded with harmful chemicals. Street foods used to be my favourite, but now I can not enjoy them as fear prevents me from eating it. Street foods are also dangerous as they are prepared in unhygienic condition with contaminated water and repeatedly used oil. Despite that many people, especially the youths, eat them without caring about its potential health hazards. Those who stay outside for long have no choice. We have food safety law, but it remains in the book only. Even the air and water of Dhaka are polluted and bad for health. Mass awareness can help change the scenario. Food safety is a matter we cannot ignore anymore.
