For a teaching hospital at Mugda
Sunday, 3 January 2010
BANGLADESH needs more medical colleges to produce more doctors as many hospitals are run without physicians. To reach medical service to the country side, there is no alternative to having more doctors.
The under-construction Mugda Hospital would be ideal for opening a medical college. No doubt it will, at least partially, compensate the shortage of medical colleges, responsible for the shortage of doctors. It would be able to admit science students, thousands of whom are interested to get medical education. The under-construction hospital at Mugda has the space for a medical college. The Sabujbag area has no government high school, government college, polytechnic institution or engineering college.
The government should take the policy of expanding higher education throughout the country to produce human resources to meet domestic requirements. The surplus manpower can go abroad for gainful employment.
We would request the government to open a medical college at Mugda Hospital.
