Foreign cigarettes seized at Shahjalal

Customs Intelligence officials seized 150 cartoons of illegally imported cigarettes and detained a man at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport in the city on Sunday night. The detained was identified as Masud Rana. Sources at the Customs Intelligence said the man landed at the airport from Kuala Lampur by a Malinda Airlines flight ‘OD 162’ around 7:30pm. When he was passing through the airport’s Green Channel, customs officials challenged him and recovered 150 cartons of cigarettes searching his luggage at 8:00pm. They also recovered 150 pieces of ladies garments from his luggage, according to a news agency.
