Foreigners staying illegally pose threat to society
Tuesday, 25 November 2014
It is indeed alarming to note that the number of foreigners staying illegally in our country is increasing due to lax monitoring of the authority. Many of them are involved in various crimes which is making our society unsafe. Often we read reports of law enforcement agencies arresting foreigners staying in our country after the expiry of their visa. Lack of monitoring will encourage others to come to Bangladesh and make it a hub of criminal activities.
Many of the foreigners are allegedly involved in illegal activities like fake note manufacturing, credit card fraud, drug peddling and smuggling. Surely these foreigners who are involved in criminal activities, have become a headache for our law enforcement agencies. The house owners should also inform the local police station if they rent out their house to foreigners. In this way, the law enforcement agencies will be able to compile and preserve a record of foreigners staying in their areas. I hope the law enforcers will be more active against the foreigners who are breaking the law so that our country does not become a safe haven for international criminal groups.
