Foreigners to get support in English dialling 999

Police will provide emergency services to various diplomatic missions, UN agencies, and foreigners living in or visiting Bangladesh in English when they call the 999 hotline to receive assistance, according to a notice issued on Thursday.
The notice was signed by Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Mohammad Tabarak Ullah.
Dialling 999 with mobile phones and telephones, the foreign nationals can access emergency police, fire and ambulance services communicating in English, according to the notice.
An official from Dhaka Metropolitan Police said they have taken necessary measures to ensure emergency services for foreign nationals as per the directives of the Inspector General of Police.
