KHULNA, Jan 16 (BSS): Forest and Environment Secretary Dr Mihir Kanti Majumder said that government would streamline forest laws within 40 days.
He was exchanging views with the Bangladesh Chapter of the Sundarbans Supporters Committee at Khulna Press Club as chief guest.
"Only armed guards would not be able to guard the forest. Local police can protect the trees as well as all biodiversities", he said
He said tourism spots at Karomjol in Khulna, Munshiganj in Satkhira and Shoronkhola in Bagerhat would be established very soon.
Chaired by Alhaj Liaquat Ali, convener of the committee, the meeting was addressed by deputy commissioner of Khulna NM Ziaul Alam as special guest.
Later, the secretary general of the committee handed over a memorandum to the chief guest for realising their 16-point demand.
