Forest robbers linchpin held with arms, bombs

Bangladesh Coast Guard personnel arrested a suspected ringleader of 'Sejo Bahini', a forest robbers' gang, from a char (shoal emerged from riverbed) in Paikgachha upazila in Khulna district on Tuesday. The arrested is Rawshan Gazi, alias Sona, 35, son of Abdus Samad Gazi of Soladana village. Staff officer Lt Col Mozahidur Rahman of operation department of Mongla Coast Guard (west zone) said, being informed that some robbers were preparing to commit robbery in Sladana area near the Shibsa River adjacent to Sundarbans in the morning, a coast guard team conducted a drive in the area and held 'Sejo Bahini chief Gazi after a hot chase. However, the four other gangsters managed to escape sensing the presence of the Coast Guard. No firing incident occurred during the drive, said Mozahidur Rahman. According to the information given by Rawshan, the Coast Guard team recovered nine pipe guns, 16 rounds of bullet and 60 chocolate bombs from the char of the Shibsa River, according to UNB.
