Forkan verdict any day
Sunday, 14 June 2015
The verdict against war crimes under-trial Patuakhali’s Forkan Mollick will be issued any day now. The charges against the former Muslim League activist include serious crimes like genocide and rape. International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2, led by Justice Obaidul Hassan, issued a 'Curia advisari vult' on the case on Sunday. The Latin term 'Curia advisari vult' (CAV for short) literally means 'the court wishes to be advised', meaning it reserves the judgment for another day. Forkan has been accused of killing eight people, organising mass killings, four cases of rape, forcibly converting three people, evicting 13 families and forcing them to leave the country, besides vandalising and looting 64 homes and shops during the Liberation War. He has also been accused of being involved in five cases of arson, according to bdnews24.com.
