Former AL MP Md Yusuf dies

CHITTAGONG, Feb 18 (UNB): Mohammad Yusuf, a former Awami League, MP, died at a hospital in the capital at the age of 69.
He breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka around 8:00 am on Sunday, said his younger brother Mohammad Sekandar. His namaz-e-janaza will be held here tomorrow (Monday), he added.
Yusuf, a confirmed bachelor, left behind his two brothers, two sisters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of Mohammad Yusuf.
In a condolence message, she said the nation has lost a valiant freedom fighter and veteran politician at his death.
Earlier on January 7, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong to ensure the proper treatment of the ailing former MP as the news on his health and living condition came to her notice through social media.
Mohammad Yusuf was elected MP from Rangunia of Chittagong with Awami League ticket in the 1991 parliamentary elections.
