Former army man, wife strangled dead

A former soldier and his wife have been found dead in their house in Singra upazila in Natore. Police suspect that Nani Gopal Kundu, 70, and his wife Chitra Kundu, 60, were strangled to death. Singra Police Station Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam said Nani’s body was found in the bedroom of the house at Sanoil village on Sunday morning, with hands and legs tied behind. Chitra’s body was found beside the tube well with a piece of cloth tucked in her mouth. “There is no sign of external injury on the bodies. They might have been strangled at night,” the SI said. Their neighbour Kalu Mandal said Nani was a freedom fighter and working as a contractor after retirement. Their sons Pulak Kumar Kundu and Pinak Kumar Kundu live in India and work in police, according to neighbours. Singra Police Station OC Nasir Uddin Mandal said the bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination, according to bdnews24.com.
