Former BCL chief Shamim shot in city

Former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Enamul Haq Shamim is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He was injured as a group of unidentified miscreants near his Dhanmondi residence shot him Thursday morning. He was out of danger, hospital sources said. Our Medical Correspondent said three unidentified miscreants riding a motorcycle started firing gunshots indiscriminately on Shamim (45), when he reached near the Ibne Sina Diagnostic Centre at 9/A Dhanmondi by a private car from his residence at 10/A Dhanmondi at 9.30 am. A former Vice-President of Jahangirnagar University Student Union (JUCSU) Shamim, was injured by two bullets in his left hand and now undergoing treatment at the operation theatre of the DMCH. Shamim, member of Awami League's central committee and also editor of a Bengali Daily Ajker Protashaya, came under attack when he left his house for the party office.    — BSS
