Police raided the residence of former treasurer of Dhaka University (DU) Syed Abul Kalam Azad Wednesday night to arrest him in a corruption case.
But the police returned without arrest, as Prof Azad was on bail.
Shahbagh Thana Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Karim Thursday said a team from the police station, led by him, went to Azad's residence on the DU campus to arrest him, but they returned as the former DU treasurer was on an anticipatory bail.
When contacted, Prof Azad admitted the entrance of police at his house and claimed the case against him was a false one.
The graft case was filed against Prof Azad during the past caretaker government when he was the treasurer of National University (NU).
