Former Rajshahi City Mayor Minu freed on bail

RAJSHAHI, Dec 7 (BSS): Former BNP lawmaker and Mayor of Rajshahi Mijanur Rahman Minu was freed on bail from the local jail this evening.
Jail authorities said that Minu was released from the Rajshahi Central Jail at around 6-00 pm as he obtained bail from the higher court Thursday last in the two graft cases filed against him.
Minu was arrested from his city bhaban office here on June 11 last year in connection with an extortion case filed against him and nine other accused.
They were convicted with 13 years’ jail in the case on August 26 last year. The higher court acquitted all the 10 accused of the case including Minu.
A large number of BNP leaders and workers as well as his family members received him at the jail gate.
