Former secretay Ismail Jabiullah surrenders, sent to jail

Ismail Jabiullah, a former secretary of the government Thursday surrendered before the court of special judge in the city, reports BSS.
Court sources said that after his surrender, Judge Serajul Islam of Special Court No-7 sent him to Dhaka Central Jail.
The court also directed the jail authorities to take necessary steps for his medical treatment and give him division according to the jail code.
He was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment by a court on June 2008, in his absence for concealing information of about Tk 21.6 million in his wealth statement.
Anti-corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) filed the case with the Ramna Police Station on November 5, 2007 against Jabiullah, who was an influential bureaucrat during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government.
