Former Speaker Humayun Rashid's son arrested

The police arrested Noman Rashid Chowdhury, son of former Speaker Humayun Rashid Chowdhury, on a fraud charge, reports bdnews24.com.
The arrest was made Wednesday in Dhaka. Hours later, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Hemayet Uddin denied him bail and sent him to jail.
The charge involves alleged misappropriation of Tk 3.0 million (30 lakh) in a case that was filed in 2002 at the Nilphamari Sadar Police Station.
However, the Mohammad-pur Police Station arrested him after receiving a warrant of arrest.
Details of the case were not clear.
Officer-in Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur police Shibli Noman told the news agency Wednesday they arrested Noman Rashid from his Dhanmondi residence.
