Four children drown in Nilphamari, Jhenaidah, Manikganj

A total of four children drowned in ponds of Nilphamari, Jhenaidah and Manikganj districts
on Saturday, reports BSS.
In Nilphamari, two minor girls drowned in a pond of Nilphamari Government College on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Safrin Jannat, 07, daughter of Matiur Rahman, an official of Nilphamari Sonali Bank, and resident of Babrizhar village under Chaprasaramjami union in Sadar upazila, and Tanha Akhter, 07, daughter of Zahirul Islam of Patkamuri village under Kundapukur union of the upazila.
The families of the two children live in the same rented house on College Station Road of the district town.
The girls went to the pond for taking bath and drowned. Seeing the incident, Safrin's younger brother, Alfi started screaming. Hearing his scream, locals rushed to the spot, rescued them and took them to Nilphamari General Hospital, where the on duty doctors declared them dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station M.R. Sayeed confirmed the matter.
In Jhenaidah, a two-year-old boy drowned in the Kumar river at Jhaudia village of Shailkupa municipality in the district Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abram, son of Azad Mridha of the same village.
The boy fell into
the river while picking flowers on the riverbank around 11 am. After not seeing the child for a long time, the family members started searching for him.
Later, the body of child was recovered from the river.
Officer-in-Charge of Shailkupa Police Station Masum Khan confirmed the matter.
In Manikganj, an infant boy tragically drowned in a ditch beside his house at Poyla village under Poyla Union of Ghior Upazila on Saturday.
The deceased, Jayan, 3, son of Papon Mia, fell into the ditch while trying to retrieve a football. His friend Hamim immediately informed the child's guardians, who began searching for him.
After some time, they recovered Jayan's body from the ditch and took him to Ghior Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Ghior Police Station Mohammad Kohinur Mia confirmed the incident.
