Four children drown in three dists

Four children drowned in separate incidents in Thakurgaon, Chandpur and Cumilla districts on Tuesday and Wednesday, report agencies.
In Thakurgaon, a 15-year-old boy drowned in a pond in Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon on Tuesday afternoon, officials said on Wednesday.
The dead is Shakib Islam, son of Nazrul Islam of Goreya Milonpur village of the upazila.
Md Sarwar Hossain of Thakurgaon Fire Service and Civil Defense, said Shakib and his friends went to take a bath in the pond around 4:00 pm. "He suddenly went missing."
Later, fire service divers launched a rescue operation and fished out Shakib's body. "The body has been handed over to his family," Hossain added.
Madrasa student drowns in Chandpur pond
In Chandpur, a madrasa student allegedly drowned in a pond on the premises of Chandpur Sadar Upazila Cooperative Office on Tuesday.
The dead is Md Zubair Ahmed (10), son of Zakir Hussain of Rahmatpur Colony in the district town. He was a student of Jamia Islamia Fazlul Uloom Madrasa.
Madrasa teacher Belal said, "As there was no water in the tank of the madrasa, some 20 students went to take a bath in the pond of the neighbouring cooperative office on Tuesday noon. Zubair suddenly went missing."
Later, assistant teachers of the madrasa, Belal and Alamin, fished out Zubair's body from the pond. "He was rushed to Chandpur General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival," Belal said.
In Cumilla, two cousins drowned in a fish enclosure at Arifpur village under Barura upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.
The dead are Md Ismail Hossain (4), son of Iqbal Hossain, a resident of Arifpur village of the upazila and Roza Islam (6), daughter of Shah Alam of Kabila village under Burichang upazila of the district.
