Four cos see 'abnormal' stock price surge

Stock prices of four listed companies, including Orion Infusions, have continued to surge abnormally, making their way into the weekly top 10 gainers' chart on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week.
However, the companies, in separate disclosures, said there was no undisclosed price sensitive information behind such price surge and increase in volume of shares traded.
Apart from the Orion Infusions, three other companies which saw abnormal jump in stock prices are Kohinoor Chemicals Company (Bangladesh), Orion Pharma and Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa.
The share price of Orion Infusions continued its upward journey for the last 16 sessions without any break on the premier bourse.
The company's share price jumped 224.55 per cent or Tk 289.90 during the period from August 14 to September 8, closing at Tk 419 each.
Last week, the company topped the chart of top 10 gainers with a rise of 35.03 per cent on the DSE.
The company was also dominated the chart of weekly top 10 turnover leaders, featuring a value of Tk 1.64 billion.
In response to two separate queries made by DSE on August 3 and August 25, the company has informed that there is no undisclosed price sensitive information behind the recent unusual price hike and increase in volume of shares traded.
The share price of Kohinoor Chemicals Company (Bangladesh) advanced 32.82 per cent last week and closed at Tk 631.70 each on September 08.
On August 28, the closing price of the company's share was Tk 410.60 each.
Orion Pharma saw its share price gain 20.13 per cent last week and closed at Tk 125.90 each on September 08.
On August 21, the company's share price closed at Tk 91.20 each on the DSE.
Last week, the company also saw investors' increased participation and secured the second position on the chart of top 10 turnover leaders with a value of Tk 5.96 billion.
Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa also dominated the chart of weekly top gainers on the premier bourse.
Last week, the company's share price advanced 16.87 per cent and closed at Tk 68.60 each.
