Four-day BDR-BSF border conference concludes

SYLHET, Nov 7 (UNB): The four-day Deputy Director and IG level border conference of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India concluded Saturday.
BDR sources said the conference was held in a very warm and cordial atmosphere at a city hotel.
BDR Deputy Director Brig Gen M Obaidul Haque led the 13-member Bangladesh delegation while BSF IG SK Mishra the 17-membber Indian side.
Various issues, including killing, arrest and abduction of innocent Bangladeshis and construction of establishments, roads, bunkers and barbed wire fence within 150 yards of the boundary line by the BSF and Indian nationals, prevention of drug smuggling, cooperation of the BSF in deportation of freed Indian nationals from Bangladesh, conducting of joint survey of the disputed lands across the borders and building mutual trust came up for the discussion.
Sources said both sides reached a consensus to address the issues in a proper manner.
They also agreed to continue cultural exchange progammes, sports and border coordination meeting between the two countries to strengthen the friendly relations.
