Four die in Gazipur road crashes

Four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur district on Thursday. Highway police said the accidents took place in Hotapara, Shafipur and Konabari areas in the morning. Identities of the deceased could not be known. Highway police sub-inspector Bahar Alam said a truck knocked a poultry-laden pick-up van from behind in Hotapara area on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, leaving the pick-up driver and helper dead on the spot. In separate accidents, two unidentified vehicles ran over a woman in Konabari and a man in Shafipur on Dhaka-Tangail highway almost at the same time, leaving the dead on the spots. Being informed, police recovered the bodies. The bodies were sent to Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital in Gazipur city for autopsy, according to a news agency.
