Four die in Jessore 'gunfights'

JESSORE, Jan 20 (UNB): Four suspected robbers were killed in separate 'gunfights with their cohorts' in Sadar and Jhikargaccha upazilas early Saturday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
On information about a gunfight between two groups of robbers, a team of police conducted a drive in
Nagorpur area of Sadar upazila around 2:20 am and recovered bullet-hit bodies of two robbers, said Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Police also recovered two shutter guns, two bullets, four machetes and sharp weapons.
In Jhikargaccha upazila, police recovered the bodies of two suspected robbers, believed to be killed in a gunfight with their cohorts, from Chapatola village around 3:00 am.
A foreign-made pistol, two bullets and four machetes and sharp weapons were recovered from the spot, said Masud Karim, officer-in-charge of Jhikargaccha police station.
