Four hurt in RU BCL factional clash

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Aug 2: Four activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured in a factional clash over establishing supremacy at a hall on  Rajshashi University (RU) campus in the early hours of Sunday.
The injured are Saikot Hossain, a student of master's in Economics and also secretary general of BCL Sayed Ameer Hall unit, Hasibur Rahman, fourth year  student of Social Work Department, Masud Hussen, third year student of Economics Department and Ashraful Islam, first year student of Bengali Literature Department.
They were admitted to the RU Medical Centre and critically injured Masud was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for better treatment.
Campus sources said BCL hall unit secretary Saikot shifted activist Hasib from room no 205 to 213 inside the hall on Saturday noon.
BCL hall unit president Nazmul Hasan Sajol thought that Hasib joined the group loyal to Saikot and for that he beat him up at 12.30 am on Sunday.
Hearing the news, Saikot along with his supporters went to Sajal to know why he assaulted him. At one stage of altercation, both groups attacked each other with iron rods.
On information, hall provost Prof Md. Mustafizur Rahman along with law enforcers went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
