Four killed, 10 hurt in road accidents

Four persons were killed and four others injured in three districts Thursday night and Friday, report BSS
In Narayanganj two students, including an SSC candidate, were killed and two others injured in two separate road accidents in the district Thursday night and Friday morning.
Police and eyewitnesses said a student identified as Pranta, 12, son of one Shahjahan of Bihari Colony of Adamji Sumil Para, was run over by a truck while he was riding a bicycle on the Narayanganj-Siddhirganj road under Siddhirganj police station Friday morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Siddhirganj police station Md Alauddin said the victim was a student of a local primary school. Police seized the truck and arrested driver Monir Hossain.
In another accident, an SSC candidate, was killed on the spot and two others were injured when the trio riding a motorcycle to go their residences at Dohorgaon.
A speedy covered van hit their motorcycle in the Golakandail area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway under Rupganj police station Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Jaynul Abedin, son of Abdus Sattar of village Dahargaon under Rupganj Upazila. The injured were identified as Ryad, 21, and Shahid, 22.
Kanchpur Highway police seized the covered van but the driver managed to flee.
In Faridpur a Nosimon driver was killed in a road accident at Gajaria on the Faridpur Sadar- Charbhadrasan road Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Khokon, 30, son of Sabu Molla hailed from Nagarkanda upazila of the district.
Police sources said the accident occurred when the wood log-laden Nosimon, heading towards Charbhadrasan, fell into a roadside ditch as it tried to give side to a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction.
Nosimon driver Khokon died on the spot.
In Khulna one person was killed and two others, including an SSC examinee, were injured in a road mishap at the Shantidham intersection in the city Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Wasim, 35, a driver of a battery-run easy bike and son of Muhammad Ismail and a resident of the Dalmill Morh area in Sonadanga thana in the city.
Local people and police said the accident took place at around 8.45am when a rice-laden truck collided head -on with the easy bike, leaving Wasim dead on the spot and two others injured.
UNB adds from Barisal: Six policemen and a Barisal branch official of Bangladesh Bank (BB) were injured after a minibus used for transferring cash collided with a sand-laden truck at Ichhakathi on the outskirts of the city Friday morning.
Satyendranath Roy, assistant manager of the local branch central bank, said he along with six policemen escorting the microbus was going to the Shariatpur treasury branch of Sonali Bank with the cash.
Suddenly, a truck crashed into the microbus in front of the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police on the Barisal-Dhaka highway around 11am, he said, adding that he and the policemen sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Following the accident, the planned trip was cancelled and the cash was preserved at the local branch vault of the central bank.
