Four killed, 14 injured in separate road mishaps

SIRAJGANJ, Oct 21 (UNB): Four people were killed and 14 others injured in separate road mishaps in the district Sunday.
In Sirajganj, two people were killed and eight others injured in separate road mishaps in the district.
In the first accident, two buses collided head-on at Soydabad on the west side connecting road of Jamuna Bridge early Sunday, killing one and injuring seven.
Local sources said a Dhaka-bound bus and a Rangpur-bound bus collided at about 3:00 am, killing Rangpur-bound bus's helper Belal Hossain (30), on the spot.
Injured seven passengers of both the vehicles were given treatment.
In another accident, a bus rammed a rickshaw van at Nalka bus stand under Royganj Upazila, leaving one killed and another one injured.
The deceased was identified as van passenger Rezaul (28).
Injured van puller Hanif was admitted to Sadar Hospital.
In Comilla, two people, including a truck driver, were killed in a tragic road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Jhinglatoli under Daudkandi Upazila Sunday.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at about 5:00 am when the iron rod loaded Daudkandi bound truck from Chittagong plunged into a roadside ditch, killing its driver Bhagyakul Chakma and passenger Saiful on the spot.
Police recovered their bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Barisal, six people were injured in separate road mishaps in Hizla and Mehediganj upazilas of the district Saturday.
In Hizla, the mishap occurred at about 12:45 pm when a Hizla river port-bound three-wheeler tempo collided with another tempo coming from opposite direction at Khunna area injuring four passengers of the two vehicles.
The injured Hanif Khan, Shamsu Molla, Mizanur Rahman and Hannan Hawladar were admitted to the local hospital.
In Mehediganj, two bicycle riders were critically injured when a tempo rammed their vehicle near Patarhat area in the afternoon.
The injured identified as Riaz and Jahed were admitted to the local Upazila Health Complex.
