Four killed in a bus accident

KHULNA, Mar 9: Four persons were killed and 45 injured in a bus accident near Helatal bridge premises on Satkhira-Jessore road Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Deboproshad Roy (30), Jashim Uddin (27), Belal Hossain (35) and an unidentified woman aged about (32). Police and witnesses said, a Dhaka-bound Rozina Paribahan passenger carrying night coach when reached Hetal Bridge lost control as its tyre punctured and dashed against the bridge railing and fallen into the road side ditch at about 10.30 pm. Four persons died on the spot and the injured persons were admitted to Kaloroa and Satkhira Hospital. Potato trader killed Our Correspondent from Joypurhat reports: A potato trader was killed by robbers Tuesday night at Hoper Hat area under Sadar Thana in the district. The dacoits looted a mobile set and cash Tk 40 thousand. The deceased was identifried as Rafikul Islam, son of Abdul Hamid of Mitna village in Sadar Upazila. Officer-in-charge of Khetlal thana and deceased's family said Rafikul was going to Hismi Bazar to Pathanpara Bazar at 11 pm Tuesday when he reached at Hoperhat area the gang of robbers stabbed with sharp knife and left him dead on the spot. 1 killed, 15 hurt A Correspondent from Kushtia says: A worker of ruling party Awami league died at the Rajshahi Medical college hospital Tuesday following a clash in the district. The deceased was identified as Shemul Mollah (40). According to sources, the clash erupted over a trifling matter between AL leader Musab Ali Mollah and BNP leader Mohammad Ali and spread over quickly in the village of Shalghar Madua under Kumarkhali Upazila. At least fifteen leaders and workers of both groups were injured in the clash. They were admitted to Kushtia general hospital. When the condition of shimul deteriorated he was shifted to the Rajshahi Medical college hospital where he breathed his last at noon Tuesday.
