Four killed in road crash

MANIKGANJ, Apr 20 (UNB): A student of Titumir College in the capital was killed and his friend injured as a bus slammed into their motorcycle at Kushtia in Saturia Upazila Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Asaduzzaman Sabuj Pradhan (27), an honours final year student of the college and son of Anwar Hossain of Purba Teguri village in Doulatpur Upazila in the district.
Police said the bus dashed the motorcycle when Sabuj and his friend Hamid were going to Teguri from Saturia, killing the former on the spot and injuring the latter.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
They also seized the bus but its driver and helper escaped.
Meanwhile, four people were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Kaunia Upazila in Rangpur Thursday night.
Two of the deceased were identified as Faruk (15) and Farid (18) while identities of the rest could not be known.
Quoting witnesses police said the accident occurred at about 11:30 pm as a Dhaka-bound bus from Lalmonirhat collided with a tractor coming from opposite direction, killing a bus passenger on the spot and injuring another seven.
