Four killed, two injured in separate road mishaps

COMILLA, Aug 31 (UNB): Three people and a minor girl were killed and two others injured in three separate road mishaps Thursday.
In Comilla, a three-year-old girl was crushed under the wheels of a bus at Rampur on Comilla-Sylhet highway under Burichang Upazila Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jannatul Ferdouse, daughter of Rumel Miah of Sushanda village under Muradnagar Upazila.
Witnesses said the Companyganj-bound bus from Dhaka ran over the girl while she along with her father was crossing the road at about 10:00 am on their way to the house of her maternal grandfather in Burichang Upazila.
Police on information recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Chandpur, three people were killed and two others injured in two separate road mishaps Thursday.
Sources said two children were crushed under the wheels of an ambulance at Akania village under Kochua Upazila on Kochua-Kaliapara highway.
The deceased were identified as Shohag (10), son of Sultan Ahmed and Sharmin Akther (8), daughter of late Abu Taher, both hailed from Akania village of the upazila.
Sources said the ambulance of a private clinic ran over the two children, killing both of them on the spot before it plunged into a pond.
Local people rescued the injured driver and his helper, who later managed to flee. Police seized the ambulance.
In another accident, Salahuddin Chowdhury Rabin (22) was killed as a van rammed into his motorbike in Hajiganj Upazila headquarters in the afternoon.
