Four more die of dengue _

Four more people have died of dengue in the last 24 hours to Sunday, raising the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 314 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), reports UNB.
Two of the deaths have been reported in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), while one has been reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and another in the Chattorgam division.
During this period, 1,306 patients were hospitalised with the viral fever. Among them, 277 were admitted in DNCC, while 144 were hospitalised in DSCC.
Currently, 4,112 patients have been receiving treatment for the disease in various hospitals across the country. Since January 1, 2024, a total of 64,471 dengue cases have been reported.
Last year was particularly severe, with 1,705 deaths recorded, making it the deadliest year on record.
The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
