Four more die with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours

Four more children have died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) regular measles situation report, no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded during the last 24 hours.
The deaths occurred between 8:00 am on Saturday and 8:00 am on Sunday.
The DGHS report said among the four deaths, one each was reported from Dhaka, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions.
With the latest fatalities, the number of children who have died with measles symptoms since March 15 has risen to 560, it said.
In addition, 92 children have died from laboratory-confirmed measles, bringing the total death toll to 652.
According to the DGHS report, 1,052 more people developed measles symptoms across the country during the past 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 85,951 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide.
The DGHS report said 75 new confirmed measles cases were identified in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, the cumulative number of confirmed measles cases has reached 10,323.
A total of 70,579 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals since March 15. Of them, 66,841 have recovered and been discharged.
