Four more teams arrive in capital

Four more foreign teams - Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India - arrived in the city Wednesday to play in the first-ever SAFF Women's Football Championship that begins in the country's tourist town of Cox's Bazar on December 12 (Sunday), reports UNB.
Sri Lanka and Nepal reached the capital in the afternoon while India team arrived here in the evening. All the three teams left directly from the airport for Cox's Bazar.
Pakistan team directly flew into the port city of Chittagong Thursday afternoon and departed for Cox's Bazar.
Bhutanese team, which reached Dhaka as the first foreign side on Sunday, was due to leave here for Cox's Bazar Thursday night.
Hosts Bangladesh and the Maldives teams are already in Cox's Bazar while Afghanistan is scheduled to reach Chittagong Friday morning en route to Cox's Bazar.
Deputy Chairman of SAFF Women Football local organising committee Sirajul Islam Bachchu confirmed the team arrivals over telephone Thursday evening.
Nepal will play the Maldives in the inaugural match of the eight-nation first SAFF Women's Football Championship at 2:45 pm on Dec 13 (Sunday) after a colourful opening ceremony that will begin at 12 noon at the Cox's Bazar Stadium.
Bangladesh will play their first match against Sri Lanka on December 13 (Monday) at 2:45 pm while favourite India will face Bhutan in the day' s other fixture at 11:05 am at the Cox's Bazar Stadium.
Bangladesh has been placed in tough Group A along with SA Games champions India, Sri Lanka and Bhutan while Group B comprises Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan and the Maldives.
In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will meet Bhutan on December 15 at 2:30 pm and play their giant rival India on December 17 at 2:30 pm
On completion of the group matches on December 18, two top teams from each of the two groups will play in the semifinal on December 20 and 21, both at 1:30 pm. The final match will be held on December 23, also at 1:30 pm.
Tournament media partner ATN Bangla will telecast live the opening ceremony and the opening match Sunday as well as India-Bhutan, Bangladesh-Sri Lanka matches on Monday, the two semifinals and the final.
