Four rescued from clutches of human trafficker

Police on Friday night arrested a human trafficker and rescued four people while they were being taken to Chittagong for sending them to Malaysia through illegal sea route. The five people were detained from Probhakaradi area in Araihajar Upazila in Narayanganj district. The detained human trafficker was identified as Abdus Sattar, 45, son of Mofizuddin of Kodomirchar village of Araihajar Upazila and the victims were Jalil, son of Nuru Mia, Abdus Salam, 22, son of Jasim Uddin, Nasir, son of Sahabuddin, and Masum Billah, 21, son of Hajrat Ali. They hailed from Ramchandradi village of the same Upazila. Police said locals caught Abdus Sattar along with the four people who were being trafficked to Malaysia from Bangladesh through marine route from Chittagong. Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Araihajar Police Station, confirmed the incident, saying said a case was filed in this connection.
